The leading trade fair in the international pet industry, this was the largest in its history, with about 39,000 trade visitors (up 5%) from more than 90 countries having the opportunity to learn about the latest in pet food and grooming supplies, accessories and services for pets. The number of exhibitors was up by 7%: this year, a total of 1,818 suppliers from 61 countries displayed their innovations and trends on over 115,000 sqm of exhibition space.
Interzoo was even more international this year, with 70% of visitors coming from outside Germany, the majority from Italy, France, the Netherlands, Spain, the Czech Republic and Poland. The international nature of the exhibitors was also higher this year, at 82%.
“That once again made Interzoo an outstanding platform for new business relationships, both within Germany and abroad, and for the introduction of new products,” enthused Hans-Jochen Büngener, Chairman of the Interzoo Exhibition Committee.
Herbert Bollhöfer, Managing Director of exhibition promoter WZF GmbH, also reports positive feedback from the exhibitors: “The companies were impressed by the quality of the trade visitors and the positive export opportunities, and they are looking forward to a good level of follow-up business.”

Norbert Holthenrich, President of the German Pet Trade & Industry Association (ZZF) believes that the show of products and services for the global pet market gave both journalists and visitors a sense that “the market is flourishing”. This impression is backed up by international economic data from market research institute Euromonitor: “The overall global market has grown to more than €92 billion,” reported Holthenrich at the Interzoo press conference, “and the European pet market accounts for €28.8 billion of that total.”
